Yes. It runs Samsung Tizen and the fingerprinting is on unless you turned it off. The toggle is "Viewing Information Services" and "Interest-Based Advertising".

Samsung TVs fingerprint what is on the panel several times a second, including HDMI inputs like a console or cable box, and upload matches to Samsung Ads about once a minute. It is bundled into the setup agreement, so it is on unless you unchecked it.

Ads, recommendations and voice each have their own toggle. None of them are covered by the main switch.

Applies to All models

  1. Settings > General & Privacy > Privacy Choices, turn off everything optional
  2. Settings > General & Privacy > Voice, turn off voice recognition services if unused
  3. Sign out of the Samsung account if you do not use it. It ties the ad profile to you.

What the switch does not cover

  • Users report the toggle re-enabling after major firmware updates. Re-check after every update.
  • Samsung TV Plus (the free channels) has its own ad calls that this toggle does not stop.
